Borla 140306 Cat-Back Exhaust System – CHALLENGER R/T 08-09 5.7L V8 AT/MT RWD 2DR

These showed up a few days after I ordered them, in perfect condition. Took them over to a local muffler shop, they had them on in an hour, for about $120. They sound AMAZING, and there is a noticeable difference in performance (to be fair, i also put a K&N cold intake on the previous week, so while I know there’s a difference because of the pipes, I don’t know how much is due to each change.A few things you should know -1. The Challenger was a pretty quiet car with OEM pipes – it is NOT a quiet car with these – you can pretty much forget having a phone conversation while accelerating or decelerating. At steady highway speeds, it’s not so bad.2. Speaking of Highway speeds, if you have the 5.7L Hemi with an automatic, you will have enjoyed the benefit of “eco mode” where 4 of your cylinders cut out pretty seamlessly, saving you some gas? This exhaust system does NOT play well with the “eco mode”. The note starts getting very rough and louder, and now you WILL be able to feel those changes back and forth. While i don’t mind the car having an aggressive noise pattern, the noise when in eco mode is just flat-out annoying to the point where i disengaged it completely by leaving the car in manual shift mode. It’s not a deal-breaker, but something to consider if you do a lot of highway driving.3. While i’m really happy with these, they are significantly louder in the cabin than they sound in the Borla video on youtube that compares the Touring to the S-type to the Atak. […] I might have been just as happy with the Touring version, and if all you’re looking for is a little extra growl, that’s the direction I’d go. These sound aggressive and mean, which is awesome, but there’s a certain commitment to the joke you need to be willing to make. I cannot for the life of me imagine why you’d go all the way to the Atak system, unless you’re planning to race the car, and willing to risk noise violations on the street.4. In addition to the freer flow, this system also weighs significantly less than the OEM pipes. I’d guess you’re shaving off somewhere between 50-100 lbs.I kept the OEM system, just in case i decided to switch back at some point, or if i ever sold the vehicle to someone who isn’t as big a fan of engine rumble. I’d highly recommend that you do that also.
