Though I initially had doubts that the fiber brush would be able to remove the soot from the furnace boiler, thinking that it would need a wire brush instead, this brush was quite adequate to the task. The brush was able to remove the soot from the 2 inches adhering to the combustion chamber and the six 30″ horizontal finned ducts that were plugged completely with soot. Had the furnace been burning wood instead of fuel oil there might have been creosote adhering to the surfaces which would have required a wire brush.
