UPDATE: Color is very pretty indeed, but it did not control our algae!I got this in hopes of controlling the algae in my small goose pond. It’s only 15×20, 1000 gallons, so I tried to figure out the correct amount to put in it. I went with 1 tsp of the powder which was probably 5x more than was needed. Starting with only 1/4 teaspoon, it did not seem to be blue enough, so I added more until it was probably roughly 1 teaspoon. Safety was my biggest concern with using a pond dye. I was especially worried about not knowing the exact amount to add since was pond is so small. From my research, it did not seem like it was an exact science, and so far, there hasn’t been any ill effects to my geese. This powder is incredibly messy! I put on the included orange gloves, and they were stained just from touching the exterior of the package when it was closed. Good thing I did this all outside, because blue stuff was everywhere. It was very easy to use though, and with my small pond, I probably have enough for the rest of my life, or the geeses’ life, whichever comes first! My pond has a black liner, and that is why the blue does not show up too much. In the photos, it looks bright green, but that is nothing like the appearance in person. It looks more like just a tint of blue amongst the black. It’s a very pretty shade of blue. It looks funny when the geese are in it because their legs look a little blue. Thankfully, they did not get in until it was well mixed into the water and even my white goose did not turn blue! [...]
