I’ve had to replace the mower deck clutch cable for my Craftsman LT-2000 Lawn Tractor before. It’s a bit of an annoying repair, because the cable has to be threaded through the tractor’s chassis. I think the reason the cable needs to be replaced is that it is similar to the hand-brake cable on a bicycle: a wire going through a flexible, reinforced tube. Over time, I think the wire stretches until it can no longer engage the clutch for the mower blades. So, I ordered this clutch cable, fiddled around underneath the mower to install it and was delighted that it worked great when I finally powered up the mower and plowed through a lawn that had grown to about a foot in height during the downtime waiting for this and other parts that were needed for various repairs on the tractor.I’ve only used it once, so far. Amazon likes to push for a review around the time that the product is delivered, so I’m talking about hours of use with this product, not days, weeks, months, years…What I can say is, this product was: Reasonably priced. Delivered quickly. It felt like it was quality made. Installation was about as easy as Craftsman’s design of their tractor allowed. After months of the deteriorating function of the old cable, the ease of engaging the mower deck clutch with the new cable was so smooth that I wondered if it had actually engaged at all. One of the joys of being a DIYer is the happy surprise of something turning out better than expected.
